Outstanding Quadratic to Septic Optical Nonlinearity at Dipolar Alkynylmetal‐Porphyrin Hybrids

چکیده

Porphyrins are important macrocycles with applications in several areas including therapy, catalysis, and sensing. Strong nonlinear optical (NLO) responses the key to fully exploiting potential of these biocompatible molecules. We herein report that certain metal-alkynyl donor/nitro acceptor-functionalized porphyrins attractive candidates for NLO applications. show specific examples exhibit record quadratic nonlinearity, exceptional two-photon absorption, outstanding three-photon we first four-photon absorption. The two-, three-, absorption maxima found at corresponding multiples linear bands time-dependent density functional theory assigns as admixtures porphyrin-localized π*←π donor-porphyrin porphyrin-acceptor charge-transfer transitions.

Spatial optical solitons governed by quadratic nonlinearity.

We demonstrate that a dielectric medium with purely quadratic nonlinearity [the so-called chi((2)) material] can display self-focusing phenomena through a new type of modulational instability of the interacting fundamental and second-harmonic field components and therefore can support propagation of (two-wave) optical solitons. We prove the existence of a family of such solitons, which are foun...

Spatial optical solitons governed by quadratic nonlinearity: erratum.

In our recent Letter1 we found numerically a family of stationary two-wave solutions that describes bright spatial solitons in a diffractive medium with quadratic nonlinearity. This family exists for any positive value of the nonlinear phase-mismatch parameter a [see Eqs. (3) and (4) of Ref. 1] and also for any ratio of the propagation wave numbers determined by the parameter s k2yk1, which i...

Spatiotemporal solitons in multidimensional optical media with a quadratic nonlinearity

We consider solutions to the second-harmonic generation equations in twoand three-dimensional dispersive media in the form of solitons localized in space and time. As is known, collapse does not take place in these models, which is why the solitons may be stable. The general solution is obtained in an approximate analytical form by means of a variational approach, which also allows the stabilit...

Dissipation versus quadratic nonlinearity

We consider a rather general class of convection–diffusion equations, involving dissipation (of possibly fractional order) which competes with quadratic nonlinearities on the regularity of the overall equation. This includes as prototype models, Burgers’ equation, the Navier–Stokes equations, the surface quasigeostrophic equations and the Keller–Segel model for chemotaxis. Here we establish a P...

High-order optical nonlinearity at low light levels

We observe a nonlinear optical process in a gas of cold atoms that simultaneously displays the largest reported fifth-order nonlinear susceptibility χ = 1.9× 10−12 (m/V) and high transparency. The nonlinearity results from the simultaneous cooling and crystallization of the gas, and gives rise to efficient Bragg scattering in the form of six-wave mixing at low light levels. For large atom-photo...
